School Works!
is a nonprofit organization of local businesses and schools
founded to foster cooperation between the two sectors. It
serves K-12 students of all ability levels, educators, employers
and employees throughout Bucks County.
This community is rich with examples of business/education
efforts to bring an array of public and private resources
to bear on the critical issue of education for ultimate workplace
readiness. Yet a need exists to coordinate these efforts into
an ongoing, structured process that prevents duplication,
allows for more effective and efficient collaboration, and
serves more stakeholders.
The founding objective of School
Works! is to provide this coordination
and facilitate partnerships between schools and companies
of all sizes to help students in school and to prepare them
for choosing a career. Our programs primarily are focused
on career exploration, discovery, and career education enhancing
each schools' current curriculums.
We link business volunteers and resources with students and
educators to meet goals in four general program areas:
- Career Exploration / Employment
Expectations
- Curriculum Enhancement /
Enrichment
- Leadership Development
- Motivating At Risk Students
to Stay in School

The partnerships are designed to be reciprocal
relationships where goods, services and expertise are exchanged.
Some of the partnership activities could include but are not
limited to: assemblies, classroom speakers, career fairs,
mentors and tutors, curricula enhancement programs, and much
more.
Our aim is for these business/education partnerships to mobilize
community resources to support and enhance education. Their
formation will also demonstrate an understanding that the
economic well-being and vitality of the community are tied
to the quality of its education systems. Participation in
such partnerships will support this understanding with committed
action. Our organization is a great tool when addressing "No
Child Left Behind Act".
